After breakfast we headed to the ferry terminal. We got there pretty early but couldn't
get on until the 11:00 sailing. We had some time to sit in the car and read things on
our cellphones. Our hotel check-in time was 3:00 so after we got to the island we first drove to
Butchart Gardens, then to the Tesla Supercharger, and finally to our hotel.
The gardens are amazing. We spent several hours wandering about.
The closest garden to the entrance was the "sunken garden". We were content
to take pictures from the top.
There were some beautiful tulips.
Even more tulips on the way to the carousel.
The kids seemed to be having a good time on the carousel
Bruce took a few pictures for a family visiting the gardens
There were some big trees in the garden, including coastal redwoods.
They had Japanese maple trees much bigger than the ones in our yard.
There were a number of fountains. This one had a dragon.
This one had three sturgeons.
This fountain had six frogs.
I took a close-up of a couple of the frogs.
There were a couple of monkey puzzle trees.
I liked the pruning of the tall green shrubs in the background.
This is the rose garden (none in bloom this time of year). I suspect
it is magnificent when they are in bloom.
Today we put in 89 kilometers, bringing us up to 5,515. We also went a few kilometers
on the ferry but that didn't affect the odometer of the car.
