Dick and Bruce go to NOLA

Bruce and I are going on our third Tesla odyssey. This one is more flexible than the first two, but will be over 6000 miles comparred to the 4000 or so of the previous two trips. We have no reservations anywhere. I hope this doesn't come back and bite us. We decided that the furthest extent of this trip will be New Orleans. We'll be in NOLA between Mardi Gras and the Jazz Festival so we shouldn't have trouble finding a place to stay. Our other goal is to be in Houston after the Galapagos exhibit opens at the Houston Zoo. Then we can spend some time with my sister and niece.

With our planned flexibility, we can stop at interesting places near our route and/or we can spend a day doing a lot a driving while having time to listen to music, talk, etc. Neither of us have been to the Gateway Arch and Kansas City has great BBQ so we are going through KC and St. Louis on our way. With all of the snow that has been happening in California, we decided to not go straight across through Colorado. Here is our planned route to New Orleans. The first day I'm driving down to Bruce's house in Menlo Park and then we're leaving early the next day.

On our way back, we'll stop for a few days in Houston, then go do some sight seeing in San Antonio and work our way back to the west. Bruce's car is at his son's place in Reno; we'll go that way so he can get his car back.

We will try to add a page to this website every evening telling about how we spent our day.
