Today was a day of museums. We went to the Museum of Natural Science in the morning, had a nice lunch back near
Joanne's, and then drove to Galveston to the Railroad Museum. Back to drop off Joanne, over to the supercharger and
then back to Joanne's to meet up with Kirsten, Joanne's daughter.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science has a King Tut's Tomb exhibit. It shows
things just as Howard Carter found them in 1922. Everything in the exhibit is a reproduction, but a very
good one.
Tut was entombed in a sarcophagus that was nested inside two larger ones. There were number of
things that were on top of his body inside the last one.
The sarcophaguses (sarcophagi?) Were in a stone box inside a gold colored large box; actually four nested
gold colored boxes.
There are lots of other exhibits at the museum. We looked at minerals.
There was jewelry.
We drove to Galveston to their Railroad Museum. It was a good museum but we didn't take many
pictures.
Finally, at the end of the day, we had put in 136 miles.
