We had lunch with Jim W-P and then headed to Reno. We drove by Burney Falls, which
Theodore Roosevelt called "The Eighth Wonder of the World". There were about six
fire vehicles in line to get in. We decided to pass. We didn't see any evidence of
an actual fire there. A few miles later, in Susanville we could see flames and
smoke from a large nearby forest fire. We arrived in Reno around 6pm and took
Geoff out to BBQ.
As of August 3, the Susanville fire is 25% contained and has burned 259 acres.
Here is a picture we got off the web.
