We spent the morning and early afternoon puttering around Santa Fe, then we drove to Chama. Here is a map of the full day's ride.
We had lunch at a DDD restaurant named Casa Chimayo. The food and the service were excellent.
Here is a view of the inside of the restaurant. It was the owner's childhood home that was remodelled into a restaurant.
We had guacamole made table side.
We both had "Guy's Special Enchiladas". Bruce had green chili sauce and Dick had mole.
At lunch we Googled cultural attractions in town. Several of the museums (including Georgia O'Keeffe's) were closed on Wednesday. Many are near the central plaza of the town. Here is the outside of the Art Museum.
We went to the New Mexico History Museum which was just around the corner.
Surprisingly, to illustrate the Daguerreotype process, they exhibited an old machine with a picture of Frederick Douglass.
There were some interesting old maps that showed the political divisions that came to be the state boundaries.
A noted physicist at Los Alamos was a collector of Pueblo pots. He also loved Harley Davidson cycles. He traded a particularly rare and valuable pot for this Harley.
Bruce's friend Shelley Foote was formerly the Director of Clothing at the Smithsonian. He thought that she would enjoy this exhibit.
After leaving the museum, Dick found a bench in the plaza and Bruce looked at the native American wares that were being sold under the awning of the Palace of the Governors.
The drive north to Chama was uneventful but took us by some spectacular scenery.
At the end of the day we had travelled just 119 miles for a current total of 2354. Since there are no superchargers in Chama, we had to park the car at an RV park that is a 20 minute walk from our hotel.
