Starting Friday morning, September 17, 2021, my good friend Bruce and I are off on a two week, 4000 mile Tesla odyssey. We're taking my Model S since it is grandfathered into free super charging. We've planned a route (as shown on the map), but we have a lot of flexibility. For example, our indicated route to Reno is probably closed due to fires in Calilfornia. The Red "Monopoly hotels" indicate overnight stops.
We have reservations for Carlsbad Caverns, for a railroad ride from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO, for Chaco Canyon, NM, and for Bruce to drive on the tracks from the railroad museum in Ely, NV. We're also planning to do a number of things for which we shouldn't need reservations, like spend time at Los Alamos and check out Roswell.
We're also planning to eat at a number of "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." There are websites that list places that Triple-D has visited by state and by city.
We've plotted a route that stops at various Tesla superchargers, though at a couple of places, we'll have to improvise. We have a reservation at an RV park in Chama that is a few blocks from the motel where we will stay. They have a 50A, 240V outlet that we can plug the car into and charge it up overnight.
