Since they can't work on the car until Monday, we're stuck in Boise for the
next few days. We spent the morning looking for things to do. We found a couple of
interesting things online. They have a Science Museum similar to ScienceWorks in
Ashland. We went there and the parking lot was rather empty. Their door said more
than their website did.
Another thing that sounded interesting was a culinary and cultural walking
tour of downtown. Their website said that they opened at 9:00 on Saturday so I
called shortly thereafter (and several times later in the day). Approximately 11.5
hours after my first call I got the following text from them.
Walking back to our car from the Discovery Center we noticed that there was a
waterway adjacent to the property and there was a couple pedalling a raft of
sorts and seeming to have fun. We crossed a bridge and walked for quite a distance
until we got to the place where they were renting the boats. We rented one and
went through some rather lovely vegetation with ducks swimming around us keeping
from being run into.
We did several other things. Bruce's iPhone was having trouble keeping the charge cord attached. We went to the Apple Store at the mall and the guy there took the phone to the back, dug out a wad of lint (that we couldn't see) and fixed it, free of charge.
For lunch we went to a BBQ place downtown that was highly rated, Since we're in
Idaho, I got a baked potato stuffed with brisket. I didn't think to take a picture
until after I'd started eating it. It was delish. Bruce had the daily special that
was half a chicken.
We also went to a geological museum where Bruce had a great time talking
to one of the docents about mining techniques, ore-carrying mine railroads, the use
of mathmatics in mining, and lots of
other stuff.
We still have another day and a half in Boise. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
On to day 6.
