Our various routing software routed us into Canada by driving through Glatier National
Park. We got an early start and got to Glacier. Unfortunately, the road through the
park won't be open until July. We backtracked a bit and headed to Canada. We had
originally planned to stay in Ft Macleod but we got there a little after noon.
We went ahead and drove to Banff, where we had planned to spend the next night.
We have some beautiful movies of driving to Banff but it is too late to get them
on the website tonight. Here are a few pictures of downtown Banff. We are staying
at a hotel that is in the middle of town. Here are several pictures of the downtown
area. The surrounding mountain are magnificent.
The castle-like building at the end of the street is the Canada National
Parks Administration Building
We had dinner at an Indian restaurant a couple of blocks from our hotel. It was
interesting to note that over 75% of the clientele were ethnically South Asian.
Dinner was yummy.
We are in Canada now so everything is in metric. Today we put in 650 kilometers,
bringing us up to 4,540. It was fun to see the speedometer at 125.
