Day 9, Monday 4/10/23, New Orleans to Houston

A rather uneventful drive from New Orleans to Houston on Interstate 10. We stopped twice to charge, having breakfast at a nearby McDonalds during one of our stops. We got to Houston around 2:30. We called my sister Joanne and agreed to meet for dinner at 7:00. Dick took Bruce on a sight seeing trip around his childhood neighborhood and other places from my past. We found (eventually) a set of superchargers in the Galleria parking garage. We're used to the West Coast where they tend to put them on the top floor. Here they are two levels below ground on LL2. We charged rather fully and still had some time to spare. Bruce's wife texted him an address where the Bushes (of presidential fame) lived at some point in River Oaks. That's right by my high school so we drove by and sent Deb a picture of the place. She checked Zillow and said that the house is now worth $7 million. We finally met Joanne at the restaurant (a Mexican one) and had a number of things, including some Chili con Queso from my childhood regular Mexican restaurant (which closed a number of years ago but sold their recipies to this place). It's the same queso that caused Elaine a serious gall bladder attack when she tried it at the original place before it closed. Tomorrow we're off to more adventures with Joanne.

Here is a picture of Dick's boyhood home.

We drove down the next street over (which was on my paper route as a child). Bruce really liked the look of the trees that were spanning the road.

The former Bush house was too big for a photo so Bruce took a short video

Once again we failed to photograph the odometer before the valet took the car. Using the iPhone app, we computed that we had put in 388 miles.

On to day 10.
