Day 4, Tuesday, 7/29/202. Lassen Volcanic National Park
We headed to Lassen Volcanic National Park. There is still volcanic activity.
The peak is at 10,457 ft. Driving required us to go up to 8511 feet. After our time in the park, we drove to Redding to the Tesla Supercharger and then headed home.
The visitor center is at the south end of the park. We entered from the North. There were
beautiful big trees.
Just after the northern entrance, there is Manzanita Lake.>
We eventually got to a place where we could see Lassen Peak.>
There are a number of places in the park where there is still volcanic activity.
We walked up to one of the hot spots called Sulphur Works. There was a distinct aroma
caused by the sulphur.
Here is a video of the boiling mud pot emitting the suphur smell.
There are large areas of the park that were severely burned in recent fires.
