We left Menlo Park a little after 6 AM. We stopped at Harris
Ranch for Breakfast at 8:45.
Harris Ranch is a cattle ranch as well as a collection of restaurants
and shops (you want the wind blowing in the
right direction if you're spending time there). As we were leaving
breakfast, we were fascinated by a large collection of things being
smoked.
As we entered the Los Angeles basin, we discovered that we were going right
past a Tesla dealer in Upland, CA. We weren't sure that the zip ties would
keep the under-body-protector in place for the whole trip.
We stopped there and they had
the plastic under-body-protector in stock (ours was all bent out of
shape from hitting the road multiple times). It is attached by connectors that go in holes
about 3/4" in diameter. There are a number of these connectors, though all had
come out and disappeared when the car was making all the noise. I found
it pretty amazing that the Tesla dealer could fix our car in a little
over an hour after we showed up.
As we were driving down the highway toward Marjorie's, we could see a
local fire. As we drove past it, I'm pretty sure I could see that it
was a gas station.

Next, we went to our hotel and checked in. When
Marjorie, Brian, and the kids were ready, we met them at a really
nice sports bar just a short distance from our hotel.
At the dinner table, Hazel opened her gifts. Deb's present was a bead
kit for making necklaces, etc. The gift from Grammy and Papa (i.e., Dick
and Elaine) had among other things a bathtub with a shower head that she
we was mind blown upon discovering that it squirted water when she played
with it after she got home.

After dinner we took a number of pictures of folks. Liam at 14-1/2 is
almost as tall as Papa.
