We had originally planned to get to Reno via Mt. Shasta City and Susanville. We went instead via Klamath Falls and Alturas
We stopped along the way in Janesville to visit with a model railroading friend of Bruce's. He has a shop that is even messier than mine. He managed to survive the big fire with a lot of prep work and a couple of Tesla battery packs to drive the pumps
on his water system (he also has previous firefighter training). Here is an adjacent field that pretty much burned up to his property line.
We did have some excitement on the final leg of our journey. We thought we had sufficiently charged in Alturas to get to Reno with about 20% battery left. We did a little more driving around than planned and were really watching the battery for the
last 30 miles to Reno. We also slowed down and drove 55 mph on the 65 limit highway to reduce usages. Fortunately it was 4 lanes so others could get around us.
We did hit a DDD restaurant in Reno called BUTCHER'S KITCHEN CHAR-B-QUE. It was okay, but a little disappointing.
Finally, at the end of the day, we had put in 383 miles
