Day 7, Sunday, 8/13/2023, Architecture Boat Tour; Art Institute

We had breakfast then headed toward Navy Pier to take an architectual boat tour. We went down Lake Shore Drive in order to avoid I-90. We had lunch at Lou Malnati's pizza (deep dish, butter crust). We spent the afternoon at the Art Institute.

Architectural Boat Tour

There are multiple boat tours on the Chicago river (which is really a canal that was dug by the Army Corps of Engineers to make it flow away from the lake rather than into it). This way they stopped polluting Lake Michigan. The river now goes all tbe way to the Mississippi. Here are a "few" of the pictures that we took on the tour. Our Docent is an 8th grade public school teacher. This was his last trip of the summer as he has to go back to school next week.

Art Institute

The Chicago Art Institute had a huge collection of artwork covering many artistic styles. We mostly looked at impressionism and modern art. We took many many pictures but here are a few for you to see.

Finally, at the end of the day, we had put in 33 miles.
