Day 8, Monday, 8/14/2023, Adler Planetarium

This was a lazy day. We caught up on two days of this website in the morning and then went to Adler Planetarium in the afternoon. We didn't find Adler as a particularly scientific planetarium. They have a several auditoriums where they show videos. We chose to see one called "Destination Solar System." It was a fictional account of travelling in the future to various parts of our solar system. I found it pretty weak (and Bruce got a nice nap).

While we were waiting for the showtime, we wandered about an exhibit that had a few pictures/models/verbage about the various planets. Apparently we didn't get a picture of the one for Mercury. They had 3D models of the earth and the moon plus a half-sphere model of the backside of the moon. The Mars exhibit had a number of things about rovers. Here are some pictures in roughly planetary order of the exhibits plus a meteorite.

Today was a rainy day. We took a picture of the clouds when we left the planetarium.

Finally, at the end of the day, we had put in 33 miles. My trusty Nik II is getting very close to 80,000 miles.

Back to day 7.

On to day 9.
