Day 20, Thursday, 7/25/2024, Railroad Museum

On our previous (Windy City) adventure, we had planned a visit to the Colorado Railroad Museum. Unfortunately, we were in Denver on a Monday and they are closed that day. This morning we went to the Railroad Museum and spent a couple of hours there. The museum is in Golden Colorado and has a plethora of old narrow gauge rolling stock. The museum staff was friendly and informative. After the museum, we raced toward Orem, Utah (This was our second time on this road, the other being the end of the Windy City Adventure).

Here are a few of the pictures that we took at the museum to illustrate the wide variety of narrow gauge rolling stock on display.

Bruce designed and sold a narrow gauge turntable and is particularly interested in them. Here is an example of a concrete pit, girder bridge turntable.

Here is the first steam engine brought to Colorado. You can barely see it. Given its historic significance, this is a rather surprising placement by the museum.

We took some pictures along the way that show the expanse and open grandeur of The American West.

Just before we arrived at Green River, Utah to charge, the car reached 100,000 miles on the odometer. Here are pictures of the event.

Finally, at the end of the day, we had put in 505 miles.
